With this designation, Wentworth-Douglass joins just 446 U.S. health care organizations out of more than 6,300 U.S. hospitals to have achieved Magnet recognition.

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital has received international recognition as a Baby-Friendly Designated birth facility recognizing our efforts to provide an optimum level of care for breastfeeding mothers and their babies. The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative is a global program sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to encourage and recognize hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of care for infant feeding.

This process involves evaluation of each practice office to ensure they provide the highest quality of care to patients according to nationally recognized standards set by The Joint Commission, which accredits and certifies more than 20,500 health care organizations and programs in the United States. No other hospital or provider group has achieved this standard of care and recognition for ambulatory care in the Seacoast region of New Hampshire and Southern Maine.
The Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Women & Children’s Center is recognized as a Bronze Certified Safe Sleep Hospital for its commitment to best practices and education on infant safe sleep. It is one of only four hospitals in New Hampshire to receive this title.
